Form letter email program?

Here's what I'm looking for:

I want to have a list of my students and their parents' email addresses (preferrably loaded from an excel document) and have a button next to each name that I can click to have a form email sent out informing them that the homework wasn't complete.

I know basic webpage authoring, a little javascipt, and a little more flash - but was hoping someone would have a starting point so I didn't have to do this from scratch.

I'm not even sure how to start.
Form letter email program?
I can't verify that it's any good, but there's a Youtube video explaining how to set up an email merge using Word and Outlook at http://www.youtube.com/watch%3fv=IjpCMCK...

If you're not using Outlook, you just need to review your email program's documentation on mailing lists. You need a field in your address book that allows you to select which addresses are to be included (if you can't create a custom field, you can jjust use a field that you don't usually update (like Country or Fax Number 2 or the like) and put in Yes or No) then set up your mailing list to only send to those you want.

There should be no programming involved. If you put down what email program you use, you can probably get more specific answers.
Reply:Javascript and flash actionScript both have to stay in the sandbox we call the Web Browser. A web browser can't read or write files. Email is really a server-side thing. Java gives you full command, but you ask for a custom program that might take a year to write.

MSOffice Suite Pro does offer macros that would let you tie a spreadsheet (that has buttons) to a form letter template within MSWord. Then you would click the Email button in Word. Maybe the macro can transit over all that to make a single button.

Outlook Express, there is also a book on that software (did you know it has a calendar?).

OReilly's JavaScript Cookbook had a postcard program.

Faced with your problem, I would wander down to a bookstore and look for MSOffice automation books, looking in the indexes and also the OReilly books.

the form letter is NO problem in javascript. Loading the data from a file located on your hard drive is the trick.

google -- javascript: email

Best of luck. I'm goofing off from a java project answering this. What you want to do is an off-the-shelf project.
