Email program on mac..?

I am having trouble send email on my new macbook.. I can receive it just find, just, when I try to send an email or reply to an email. This is the error message I get:

The connection to the server “smtp.comcast.net” on port 25 timed out.

Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be delivered.

Help?
Email program on mac..?
I just checked my preferences since I have a Mac and Comcast. It shows smtp.comcast.net and port 25 on mine, too. Go into your preferences in Mail and make sure that you have a POP account, look under server settings and see if you have any type of authentication checked. Mine is not checked.

You might need to do a software update on your Macbook. Sometimes they issue an update after the software is loaded on your computer.

Before doing any updates, go to Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility and run the Repair Permissions program. This should be done at least once a month to keep everything where it belongs. After that for system preferences (located on your dock) and run Software Update.

This might solve all your problems, but if not, call Apple and they will walk you through what needs to be done.
Reply:go to comcast and ask them the server it's supposed to be on... mine is smtp.gmail.com and it before said smtp.google.com... maybe urs is something like smtp.com.com? lol idk ask them.
Reply:I had this problem too. it got too annoying so i just ignored it.

for me though, it only happened with a couple of my emails. Try calling the customer support line if it really bothers you.
