Composing an email.It locked.."program not responding" Can I save or retrieve data before ending program?
If it won't let you copy and paste, but you can still see the email on your screen, try the "print screen" button. (Should be near the top of your keyboard, usually need to hit Shift first). This will make an image copy of everything you see on your screen. Then open Word and hit Ctrl-V to paste it. You'll have to retype, but at least you'll know what you wrote.

Occasionally I need to forward emails that have been already forwarded one or more times. I am looking for some simple way to get rid of all of those quote marks such as %26gt;%26gt;%26gt;. I hate receiving emails containing them and hate sending emails contianing them as well. Thanks in advance for any suggestions

I just upgraded my computer from win 98 to win ME. When I had win 98 - Yahoo was listed under tools,internet options,programs,email. Also listed there is Outlook Express %26amp; Hotmail. Now after upgrading Yahoo is gone from that listing. I only can choose from Outlook Express or Hotmail. I don't know how to get Yahoo back. Why is there imcompatibility with sending digital photos with Yahoo! to a person with the Eudora email program?
I just sent one over tonight and he has received it but his email programme (Eudora had a problem with it)

Is it me or is it his email programme out of date (he uses it on Windows 2000 I use XP Home edition and my email programme is Yahoo! as that is what my phone company gave me when I signed to Broadband and it's so easy to use).

none. just go 2 ur email and make an email. there should be a link usually at the bottom or top of the page that says "attach files". click that then click browse, find the picture or document saved 2 ur computer, then click attach and send it.

Is there any way to prevent my staff from deleting e-mails, any email program that allows an administrator?
I run a business where customers correspond with us by email, and numerous mails are exchanged between us and the customer, before he/she confirms an order. My staff occasionally deletes the entire mail of a customer, and "sells" that customer to my competitor. Crazy, huh? But I can't think of any way to prevent this, because I can't find ANY e-mail software or program that allows the boss to prevent deletion of mails or "conversations". I guess there should be some CALL CENTRE software to track mails from customers, but I just cant find any! PLEASE help! Thanks!

My brother-in-law receives documents in email (not attachments) and then edits them and forwards them to himself to save them. I have tried to explain to him that he should use a word processor and save the individual documents but he gets too frustrated to try to coordinate between the email and word processor.
That got me thinking. Why can't a word processor include built in email? I am not referring to the current "send to email" feature. I want the word processor to be the email program. Obviously some things would have to be worked out such as special word processing features that would not be viewable by the receiving party unless they had a word processor - email program.
Why hasn't any company come up with a combination word processor - email program?
Emacs has been able to integrate email and word processing for many, many years. However, if it's ease of use you're interested in, this will not help you.

I can still get through the old Windows XP way (Conrol Panel, Internet Options, Programs Tab, then click Set Programs... ) but I get to a certain point --- after I hit SET PROGRAMS and it's new and different and I've tried a few different things... and I'm lost.

Acrobat reader won't open pdf files received thru email...Is it a Reader problem or email program problem?
I have been receiving pdf files thru my yahoo email acct for years and never had a problem viewing them. Now everytime I attempt to open pdf files that are downloaded from my yahoo email, I get an error message that it is either an unsupported file or it is an email file that was incorrectly decoded. Is this an acrobat reader problem or is there something amiss with my yahoo acct. settings. I have re-installed my adobe acrobat and have searched my yahoo email options to see if I inadvertantly changed a setting but can not figure out what my problem could be. Any suggestions?

I just created (and saved) a new email list with 49 members.....but email program does not recognise the add.?
I can see the new "list name" in my contacts and when I open it I see all the email addresses... but when I click on the list address to place it in an email and try to send ...... I get a message asking me to enter a ligimate address. Also, if I open the "list name" first and click on "send mail to all" I see the list name properly go into the To field but still the email program does not recognise the address as legal??? Help!

when on a website like craigslist that requires an email response, my computer has to use the program the host site,(craigslist) uses in my comp. so, it is not setup and I try to do so, until it asks me computer language questions like pop3 and html. I get lost then.. can someone be very specific and give me the step by step? Reply:Generally speaking pop3 is the server address of your email provider for example a blueyonder address would need pop3.blueyonder.co.uk thats the pop3 protocal needed, to find out what your pop3 is check and log into your email provider and go to email support they usually have it listed in there also your username %26amp; password is required by outlook to log into the email server. also you will need the SMTP another example would be smtp.blueyonder.co.uk.
Another point worth mentioning is outlook express does not accomidate web mail addresses aka @hotmail.com @live.com @yahoo.com etc any of those accounts would not work because they are not pop3 server based.

I am looking into buying a netbook/mini-laptop. I primarily want to use it for email and web-surfing, but I need to find one that has some kind of email program such as Outlook or Entourage - so I can get my emails to come right onto my computer vs. having to check for them routinely online. My friend has this program and keeps sending me junk from addresses that aren't really his. for example his real address could be "Boy_snuggler@hotmail.com" but when he sends me an email, he can make it look like he sent it from "Catholic_church@hotmail.com" he then sends me spam and stuff trying to convert me to scientology. when i ask him for the program he says its his own personal device and if i get it too, then his afraid i will use it against him.

Um it's not his own personal device it's actually quite a simple technique and not even program based. It's e-mail routing. It's a technique you can use to mask your address but if you view the e-mail with long headers you can see the actual origin of the e-mail. Basic knowledge of most mail programs such as apples mail.app and outlook will allow you to do such things. Also you can do it via an actual mail server this is something you learn to secure when you set up your mail server.
For example.

How can I download to my email program messages I've already read in Yahoo mail?
My normal mode is to have all email for me sent to my Yahoo address. I have Yahoo forward it to my internet service provider and I download it to my PC using Thunderbird. When on vacation, I disable the downloading and read the messages directly on Yahoo. When I get back, I'd like to download from Yahoo to Thunderbird the messages I've saved, responses I've sent, etc. so I have everything on my PC. I can't figure out how to do this except one message at a time. Is there a better way?

I can't get my email program to open at all. Internet explorer says can't be displayed.?
It can happen if Your Internet explorer saves manual settings and won't accept all cookies. I hope email means you are talking about yahoomail online and not offline mail client like outlook express etc.
Just go to "tools" in the top menu bar of your browser and click internet options from there, now go to privacy and check that the privacy bar is set to medium. If its not already then set it to medium.
Now in the same "internet options", click on advanced and there you will find a button " Reset web settings ", it will delete temporary files and disable all add-ons and reset all the changed settings. Now reboot and check if it works.
If its not working then move to the same internet options, go to connections, click on settings ( for ur internet connection). You will see an option there - automatically detect settings, it wud be unchecked before but u have to check the box now. Save the configuration by clicking on apply and ok. Reboot and see if its working now.
If still not working then some software that u might have installed like a download manager has changed ur browser settings, then u will have to install windows again.

Incredimail, a downloadable freeware program, will do this, as long as you have the program running in the background. You have to be "on line" in terms of your email program to receive such a notification, but you don't have to be "on line" in terms of the Internet or your browser. Some assumptions:
1) You have Incredimail set up to read and send from both your webmail account and your ISP email account.
2) You can read and send on your ISP email account, but are unable to send on your webmail account.
3) Your webmail account does not have its own SMTP setup options.
4) You have tried setting up the webmail account to send mail using the SMTP settings for the ISP email account, and it won't go.
If all these are correct, then your problem is that your ISP does not relay SMTP; in other words, your ISP's SMTP server is seeing a piece of mail come through that does not have a return address from that ISP, and is refusing it.
You need to contact your ISP and see if there is a way to log on to their SMTP server with session authentication. If the server has a way to know that you are an actual subscriber, it may allow you to send messages with a reply-to that is not one of their addresses.
If my assumptions above are NOT correct, then you should try those things first. :)
Edit: if you are unable to contact your webmail's SMTP server through your current connection, it could be that the ISP is blocking that traffic. Try changing the SMTP settings so that the webmail outbound mail goes through the ISP's SMTP server instead. Use session authentication if it is available.

Cannot change default email program to yahoo in IE7 no pull-down choice available?
I have tried the IE option window in the programs' tab and did not find Yahoo as an option. While trying to find a solution I read about having to change the registry, however they did not offer the specifics. Does anyone know how to do it? thanks

I own a small business that sells hot tubs %26amp; hot tub chemicals to customers. I am looking for an email program that can email my customers when it is time to change their filters, time to drain thair spa, etc.
For example, if a customer, Jane buys a hot tub from us in November I would like the program to email her every 3 Months and tell her it's time to drain her spa. I would also like it to email her every November to remind her to come buy a new hot tub filter.

I want senders to know they are on my blocked list when I put them there, otherwise, the satisfaction is still theirs (like, "ha - she can't think of a good comeback, I guess I won"). And mostly hackers are selfish - they probably won't put the programs they've used anywhere, and expecting them to be free is just ridiculous. There are programs that do break into skype accounts but dunno if that's what ur asking for.

I currently use Microsoft Outlook Web Access for my email (I have a personal account setup by a friend) along with Avast v4.7 Home version
I'm getting enough spam that I'm considering trying out Thunderbird. The Outlook Web Access doesn't do a good job of that. I'm also thinking about switching to AntiVir since I hear it has a higher detection rate than Avast.
Thunderbird is a local program like Outlook as opposed to a web access one like Yahoo Mail. AntiVir on the otherhand, does NOT scan email from programs like Outlook, and what I can also assume Thunderbird neither.
It seems like I can choose to switch one or the other but not both. I'm not completely had it with the spam. I don't get that many. Around 20 to 30 hits a day which I've kinda gotten used to deleting. On the otherhand, Avast's 80% to 90% or so detection rate doesn't seem too bad, but I hear AntiVir has a detection rate of around 90% to 95%. Which wouild u say is the best choice?

Even though AntiVir doesn't have a mail scanner, it does have the main resident protection which will still detect any virus or other malware when you open up those emails.

Log out of everything, and shut down all internet windows, go to control panel, uninstall/remove programs, choose messenger. redownload and reinstall it. This is messing everything up.

I want a email program that I can set up easily. When I tried to sign up on "evelution" or "thunderbird" I had to put in stuff like outgoing server which I don't know what is at all :P
When I once signed up on "live mail"(a microsoft program), I only had to write my name and email adresse, and that's it.

My email program suddenly fails to connect to the ymail pop and smtp servers. No error just doesn't connect.?
I am using the OSX mail program and it has connected to the ymail servers perfectly since I got my ymail address (1 or 2 months). All the pop %26amp; smtp settings are correct, I am using SSL and the correct ports but it still won't receive or send mail. I have checked the passwords are correct and I can login to the webmail site. Do they have a server problem? The mail connection doctor which comes with the OS cannot connect either.
Any ideas?

If it doesn't clear up soon (24hrs?) then I shall move to gmail!
Maybe Microsoft have already bought Yahoo and installed Vista on their servers!! ;-)

I'm afraid that you're not the only one having problems, I, my wife and 2 kids have all stopped being able to receive from yahoo via pop3 starting today (using Thunderbird e-mail clients).
Have tried to look around yahoo for news of any server outages/upgrades/failures but with no luck.
If it doesn't clear up soon (24hrs?) then I shall move to gmail!
Maybe Microsoft have already bought Yahoo and installed Vista on their servers!! ;-)

I have a few emails with atachments of pictures and i can't seem to open them, it's asking if i want to save or find software online to view them with. Save the file to your hard disk and try to preview it in the the picture and fax viewer.
If is says that it can't be opened you could try and download photoshop album starter edition free from the adobe website.

Just right-click on the program file , then select Send To - Compressed folder. A .zip file is created nad you can now email it as an attachment.

I tried to do this before I responded. It seems that when using MS Office it automatically defaults to Outlook. This is because Outlook is the only e-mail program built into Office itself. However you can change your default e-mail program by going to Control Panel. Select Internet Options. Click the programs tab and under e-mail select Yahoo Mail. Once you save the file you can then right click the file and select E-Mail with Yahoo. This is the only solution I can come up with.
I hope this helps some although I know it is not exactly what you are looking for.

I know basic webpage authoring, a little javascipt, and a little more flash - but was hoping someone would have a starting point so I didn't have to do this from scratch.
I'm not even sure how to start.

When attaching a file to my email, the program is so slow that the file never attaches. How can I fix this?

Is there an email program (similar to Thunderbird or Outlook) that I can download for free that allows me to add hotmail and yahoo accounts? So far I have had no luck. I didn't think this would be such a hard thing to do.
