Is there an email client or program that will ring my PC speaker whenever I recieve a new email?

For Outlook or OE.





Select Control Panel from the Start menu.


Double-click Sounds and Audio Devices.


Go to the Sounds tab.


Highlight New Mail Notification in the Program Events list.


Select a sound from the Sounds list, or use the Browse button to find a sound not in the list.


Click OK. Any Small .wav file can be used.








If you have No sound in Outlook Express.

I think Outlook or even the "dumbed" down version Outlook Express has a setting that can make some sort of acknowledgment of received email...on most Windows Outlook Express is included.

Reply:While you are surfing the Net, there is a sound notification feature that will alert you that you have a new e-mail.





Some e-mail programs provide sound notification; AOL has the “You’ve got mail” signal. You can set up signals in Outlook and Outlook Express.





In Outlook: click Tools, Options. Click the Preference tab and click E-mail Options.


To display a message: check the box next to “Display a notification message when new mail arrives.”


To set a sound: click Advanced E-mail Options. Check the box next to “Play a Sound.”





In Outlook Express: click Tools, Options. Under the General tab, check the box next to “Play sound when new messages arrive.”





In Outlook, different sounds can be assigned to different types of e-mail.


Click Tools, Rules Wizard.


If you already have existing rules that sort incoming e-mail into separate folders, click to select one of the rules and select Modify. Keep clicking the Next button in the wizard until you reach the box stating “What do you want to do field.” Scroll down to “play a sound,” and check its box. In the Rule description, click the “play a sound” link and navigate through your sound folders until you find the desired sound (remember that there are sounds that you insert into your PowerPoint presentations from the Clip Organizer; you can record sounds; or go to a sound file). Click the Finish button. You are done with that particular rule. Repeat this same process for your other rules. Hint: Use a different sound for each rule.





If you do not have existing rules to sort your incoming mail, you can set a new rule for each folder and add the sound as part of the new rule, or you can create one rule for all of your incoming e-mails.





Click New and then click the Next button (be sure that “check messages when they arrive” is highlighted in the rule type box). Select the appropriate characteristics for each category of incoming mail





Click the Next button.





In the “What do you want to do” section, scroll down to “play a sound,” and check the its box. In the Rule description, click the “play a sound” link and navigate through your folders until you find the desired sound. Click the Finish button. You are done with that particular rule. Repeat this same process for your other incoming mail, based on that mail's characteristics.
